Lady Wildcats Edged by Hanover Area
BERWICK – The Lady Wildcats fell narrowly in the consolation final of the Nespoli Girls Tip-Off Tournament, Saturday to Hanover Area 44-38.
The Lady ‘Cats match Hanover 9-9 in the first quarter then fell behind in the second stanza 14-10 to trail the Lady Hawkeyes 23-19 at the break.
In the second half Central Mountain kept up by edging Hanover Area 11-10 in the third quarter, but the Lady Hawkeyes returned the favor in the fourth period edging the Lady Wildcats 11-10 to hold onto the the 6 point lead at the buzzer.
Leading the way for CM was Elaina Eckley with 12 points, six of those coming from outside the arc. Sadie McCaleb scored 10 points including one three-point effort.
Taylor Fletcher scored 8 while Morgan Wentzel and Averie Pringle each added 8 points to the final tally.
The Lady Wildcats will only have one day of rest before they host non-conference foe, DuBois on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016.
UPDATE – The CM girls basketball game vs. Dubois scheduled for Dec. 12, 2016 has been postponed. It’s rescheduled for January 3rd, 2017.
