MILL HALL— The atmosphere was filled with warmth and excitement on May 3 as local leaders, business owners, and community members gathered at 7133 Nittany Valley Drive for the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of Nittany Valley Holistic Health, presented by the Clinton County Economic Partnership. The new wellness center offers a unique blend of alternative and integrative health services aimed at healing the whole person, not just treating symptoms.
Founded by Dr. Jason Madigan, DC (Sport and Spine Chiropractic Rehab) and Dr. Amy Downes, DSW (Wild Sunflower Solutions), along with Rona L. Houser, Business & Community Relations Manager, and Kelly Madigan, General Office Manager, the center unites a whole-person community of wellness practitioners in a thoughtfully designed space. Here, healing the mind, body, and soul is not just the goal—it is the guiding purpose. Nittany Valley Holistic Health is home to several individual practitioners offering diverse services under one roof.
Dr. Jason Madigan, owner of Sport and Spine Chiropractic Rehab, brings his extensive experience and patient-centered philosophy to Nittany Valley Holistic Health. A respected chiropractor in the Lock Haven area with over a decade of experience, Dr. Madigan opened Sport and Spine Chiropractic Rehab in 2013. He is known for his natural, non-invasive approach to healing and his commitment to treating the root cause of pain, not just masking the symptoms. Now practicing within the newly opened holistic health center, he offers a welcoming, upbeat environment where patients feel supported and empowered in their wellness journeys.
Sport and Spine Chiropractic Rehab provides a wide range of evidence-based services tailored to each patient’s unique needs. These include Spinal Manipulative Therapy, Deep Tissue Laser Therapy, Spinal Decompression, and Therapeutic Modalities designed to reduce pain and inflammation. Dr. Madigan also incorporates Functional Movement Screens, Corrective Exercise Programs, and Sports Performance and Injury Prevention Plans to help patients restore and maintain mobility, strength, and overall physical health. Additionally, the clinic offers Custom Orthotics and Nutritional Supplements to support comprehensive recovery and performance goals.
Whether treating chronic back or neck pain, headaches, athletic injuries, or postural issues, Dr. Madigan’s mission is clear: to provide the highest quality physical healthcare to the residents of Clinton County and surrounding communities. By focusing on long-term function and resilience, he helps patients build a strong physical and mental foundation—equipping them not only to recover but to thrive in sports, work, and daily life.
Dr. Amy Downes, DSW, co-owner and business partner to Dr. Madigan in the creation of Nittany Valley Holistic Health, brings her passion for personal growth and empowerment to the center through her new practice, Wild Sunflower Solutions. With over 25 years of experience in counseling and higher education, Dr. Downes offers wellness and life coaching, goal coaching, and plans to launch a women’s leadership program by early summer, influenced by the inspirational work of Brené Brown.
“This is a place where the community can come together to care for one another mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, so that we’re better equipped to live our best, most authentic lives,” said Downes.
Her person-centered, strengths-based approach helps clients identify what holds them back and supports them in moving toward greater alignment in both personal and professional areas of life. Through thoughtful, collaborative coaching, Dr. Downes guides individuals to lead and live as their most courageous, authentic selves—making Wild Sunflower Solutions a vital and transformative part of the holistic services offered within the center.
In addition to chiropractic care and coaching, Nittany Valley Holistic Health is home to a growing network of skilled wellness specialists offering a variety of complementary services. Guests can book therapeutic massage with Katie Warren of Opal Sky Massage or Sarah Haley, LMT, or work on strength and mobility with Andrew Petruzzi of Petruzzi Performance. For those seeking aesthetic services, Chelsea Miller, NP-C, provides cosmetic treatments through Capsule Aesthetic Medicine several weekends each month. This diverse mix of care allows clients to build a personalized wellness plan—all under one roof.
The space includes private treatment rooms, a welcoming community lounge, a kid-friendly area, a small retail section featuring local natural goods, rental rooms for wellness professionals, and a conference room designed for group activities, workshops, and special events. Looking ahead, the center plans to host outdoor yoga sessions, a seasonal farmers market, and community favorites like the First Friday Food Truck & Market series.

The building, once home to a police department and later a medical office, was thoughtfully remodeled with a focus on warmth and belonging. Andrew Barnes, Project Manager at Alexander B Property Repair and Restoration, led the renovation with a clear vision.
“We really wanted to bring the exposed beam aesthetic from the exterior into the interior to create a cohesive design,” Barnes explained. “Our overall goal was to move away from a clinical, medical feel and instead create an environment that felt comfortable, welcoming, and lived-in. Every material we chose and every design decision we made was guided by that vision. The entire team, including the partners, was on the same page from the beginning, so the process felt natural, collaborative, and truly a team effort.”
The finished space features several private rooms and shared common areas, each intentionally designed for wellness practitioners who believe in collaborative, whole-person care. According to Dr. Madigan, the goal is to complement, not compete with, traditional medicine.
“Everyone here respects the role of conventional care,” said Madigan, “but we also want to give people more choices, especially those who are seeking natural, preventative, or integrative approaches to health.”
Practitioners frequently refer clients to one another, creating a seamless and supportive experience that reflects the center’s mission: to offer a more connected, compassionate path to wellness.
The grand opening of Nittany Valley Holistic Health was marked by a warm and welcoming two-day open house, which kicked off with a vibrant ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 3rd, setting the stage for visitor tours, conversations, and celebration! Visitors mingled throughout the beautifully renovated space, admiring progress through before-and-after photos, sharing stories, exchanging herbal remedies/natural wellness tips, and engaging in heartfelt conversations that echoed the center’s community-driven mission. Refreshments were served in the spacious conference room, where guests gathered to snack, chat, and explore the many services offered by the growing team of holistic practitioners.
The ribbon cutting was announced by Ben Green of the Clinton County Economic Partnership, who signaled the official start of the celebration to enthusiastic applause. The event was attended by several notable local leaders, including County Commissioner Angela Harding; Pennsylvania State Representative Stephanie Borowicz; Mark Long, Field Representative for Senator Cris Dush; and City Council Member Tammy Brannan—each showing support for the center’s mission and its growing role in the region’s health and wellness landscape.
Opening the ceremony, Dr. Madigan and Dr. Downes addressed the crowd with heartfelt speeches, thanking everyone who contributed to making their dream a reality. They expressed deep gratitude to their team, collaborators, friends, and the broader community for supporting the creation of a space grounded in care, connection, and holistic healing. Both shared that designing Nittany Valley Holistic Health was a hands-on labor of love, even noting that the founding group personally painted every wall in the building, an effort that made the process all the more humbling and meaningful. Thus, with the ribbon cut to enthusiastic applause, the celebration continued, filled with cheers, celebration, and a sense of accomplishment as attendees mingled, explored the space, and enjoyed the rest of the festivities
Adding flavor and charm to the event were local pop-up vendors. Avenue209 Coffee House, a Lock Haven favorite, set up just outside the building, while Twisted Whisk Catering from Beech Creek served up a variety of delicious menu items showcasing their signature blend of creativity and versatility. These local partners added a warm, welcoming touch to the festivities and reflected the center’s commitment to community connection.
At its core, Nittany Valley Holistic Health aims to be more than a wellness center, it strives to be a hub for community, education, and healing. Whether someone is seeking relief from pain, emotional support, lifestyle coaching, or natural skincare, the center provides a variety of options under one roof. And this is just the beginning. With plans to welcome even more holistic practitioners and services in the months ahead. Nittany Valley Holistic Health is committed to growing alongside the needs of the community and continuing to expand its vision of whole-person care.
