cm-baseballMIFFLINBURG — Juniors, Landon Breon and Ethan Watkins, shared the mound duties today as Central Mountain came home with a hard-earned 4-3 road win over Mifflinburg. The victory was the 16th in row for the 17-1 Wildcats, 13-0 in the Heartland Conference, the league title now well in hand.

The win did not come easily over a young Mifflinburg team. Breon started but struggled with his control and was replaced in the second inning by Watkins who picked up the win with 5.2 innings of one-run relief, giving up just two hits while striking out four.

Central Mountain was kept in reasonable check by Mifflinburg sophomore Maxwell Troutman who gave up four runs, two of them earned. Wyatt Koch was the lone Wildcat with multiple hits, two singles and an RBI. Other singles came from Toner Corl, Alex Garbrick, Talon Falls, Isaac Porter and Cole Reeder. Falls and Reeder added RBIs.

The Wildcats will wrap up conference play with a Wednesday trip to Selinsgrove (5-2; 8-3) and finish the regular season at home Thursday against State College (10-6).

The District 6 Quad-A semifinals are scheduled to begin Thursday, May 26. Barring something unforeseen, the Wildcats should draw the number one seed and earn a home game. The district title game is set for Blair County Ballpark in Altoona Wednesday, June 1.
