Bertha G. Watach – Obituary

ObitArtBertha G. Watach, 81, of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, April 27, in her home.  She was the wife of Joseph R. Watach with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Born May 17, 1934 in Lake City, SC, she was a daughter to the late John and Bertie (Coker) Baxley.  She has lived in Monroe County for the past 25 years, having previously lived in Renovo and North Charleston, SC.

Bertha first worked at Sylvania Phone Company in Emporium and then was a nurse’s aide at Renovo Hospital.

She was a member of St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg.

She was an avid search-a-word enthusiast.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Susan Watach of East Stroudsburg, Joseph Watach and his wife JoAnn of Williamsport, and John Watach and his wife Linda of Duncannon; six grandchildren, Alicia Nothstein of East Stroudsburg, Alexa and Alaina Watach of Duncannon, Lisa Hoover of Williamsport, Veronica Bennett of Pittsburgh and John Stewart of Duncannon; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Gerald Baxley of Scranton, SC, Johnnie Baxley, Jr. of Charleston, SC and George Baxley of Meridianville, AL; and nieces and nephews.

Private services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
