Words of Grace – March 3, 2016

WordsOfGraceThe Sunday school teacher had spent much time in preparation for his class of young people.  He was teaching them from the Bible about how to make their souls as clean as their bodies.

To illustrate his point the teacher had brought a bar of soap to the classroom.  When he held up the soap one of the boys in the class exclaimed: “Oh, no! Here comes the commercial.”

A good soap commercial demonstrates how clean the soap will make us; we are willing to buy the product if it will do a good job.

The word of God tells us what it is that will make us clean on the inside.  Soap will clean our bodies, but it is the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, that cleanses us from all sin.

Consider how some of the old hymns ask and then answer the question:

The question: “What can wash away my sin?” The answer:  “Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”

The question: “Would you be free from the burden of sin?” the answer: “There’s power in the blood, power in the blood.”

The question: “Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” What is your answer?
