Words of Grace

By Rev. Mahlon Nevel

Isaiah the prophet made a statement about our sins being made “as white as snow.“ (1:18”) It is only the blood of Jesus that can do such a work.

“Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole… Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

“Are your garments spotless, Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?”

The father had not yet learned that it was Jesus who could make us clean within, and who could keep our hearts pure. Little Mary, his daughter, did know it, and so she prayed:

“Make me gooder and gooder and gooder till there is no bad left.”

It is only the Lord Jesus who can make as white as snow, if we let him.

Evangelist D.L. Moody told about an old man who stood up in one of his meetings and said, “I have been forty- two years learning three things.” That got everyone’s attention, including Moody..

The first thing he said he had learned was that he could do nothing toward his own salvation.
The second thing he found out was that God did not require him to do anything.

And the third thing was that the Lord Jesus Christ had done it all when he shed his blood for us on the cross.
“Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”
