Lady Bucks Lay-Off Ends Monday

By Jim Morgan

bucks-basketballFARWELL – It’s been a long lay-off for the Bucktail Lady Bucks as coach Carl Gentzyel is ready to get back into the schedule.

This coming Monday Jan. 6 the Lady Bucks will play at home against Sullivan County starting at 6 p.m.  Then it is a long road trip as the Lady Bucks will play five away games in the next two weeks before coming home on the 21st.

There is also some excitement coming in both boys and girls basketball as two fine athletes are going to set some goals in January and unfortunately likely both of them will be set sometime during the away games.

Junior Maria Morgan is sitting at a total of 1,286 points in her career as she is looking to top the all-time girls scoring record set back in 2000 by Holly Edwards.

Edwards was the first Lady Buck to ever surpass the 1,000 point mark. Morgan needs 61 points; she could do it in the first week at Austin on Jan. 8 or at Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech on Friday, Jan.10. Morgan is averaging 25.8 points per game.

On the boys side, senior Chuck Probst is about to enter the 1,000 point club. Probst also will likely achieve this goal on the road, either at Northern Potter on Jan. 11 or at Muncy on Monday, Jan. 13. Right now he needs 83 more points for his accomplishment and he is averging 19 points a game.

Good Luck to both the Lady Bucks and Bucks in 2014.
