Rt. 64 Project Will Feature Temporary Traffic Signals

pdot2LOCK HAVEN – A bridge repair job will get underway September 1 on Route 64 near the village of Lamar, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Temporary signals will be in place so that crews can perform beam repair on the bridge, which spans Big Fishing Creek. The beam repairs will help avoid a weight posting and will keep the bridge in service until replacement work can take place in spring of 2016.

LTT Trucking of North Bend is the contractor for this $1.9 million job, which covers this year’s beam repair and next year’s replacement.

PennDOT’s beam repair work is expected to last through mid-October, with the temporary signals in use during that time. The temporary signals will enforce an alternating traffic pattern across the bridge. The signals will be in use again in spring 2016, as the contractor returns to perform a full replacement of the bridge.

The Porter Township bridge dates from 1930 and is 96-feet long. An average of more than 6,200 vehicles crosses the bridge each day.

Drivers using Route 64 to Penn State football games are advised that a 16-foot width restriction will be in place at the bridge during this repair work.
