Grant From TC Energy Helps Renovo Firefighters Improve Rescue Capabilities

RFD #29 Chief Ted Hill

RENOVO- The Renovo Fire Department Station #29 and TC Energy have once again teamed up to provide a potentially lifesaving device to the community, this time offering a RIT Pack, a piece of apparatus that has the potential to save the life of an area fire fighter.

The pack would be used by a qualified Rapid Intervention Team member that needed to go in and rescue a firefighter if for some reason they were to be trapped in a burning building.

“The RIT pack contains a face piece and a one-hour air tank and will adapt to all of the different types of air packs that the fire services use” explained Chief #29 Ted Hill (pictured above). “This will allow the RIT team to put the pack in service if the SCBA that the firefighter has on is out of air or damaged.”

Hill explained that in an interior emergency that if a fire fighter was out of or running low on oxygen, the pack would allow the RIT team to utilize the pack if needed to provide breathable air during rescue.

The Renovo Fire Department was awarded the grant in March of 25 and received a check for $5400 in April from TC energy.

TC Energy has been a constant source of grants and assistance to the RFD for years.

“TC Energy has become a real valued contributor to our company,” said Hill. “The grant we applied for and received really helps the fire department offset costs for equipment that we need for the rapid intervention team.”
