WAGNER ADVANCES INTO GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINALS

HERSHEY – Kendall Wagner got off to a good start at the PIAA Girls State Wrestling Championships, as the Central Mountain Lady Wildcat won by a fall in the opening round and will advance into the championship quarterfinals of the 170 pound weight class.
The Bucktail junior (26-7) recorded two takedowns and added back points to take an 11-4 lead before pinning junior Hannah Hornick (23-10) of Seneca Valley in 42 seconds of the final period and advancing into the quarterfinal round.
Wagner will now face Southeast regional fourth place finisher Alisa Williams (33-8) of Panther Valley in the quarterfinals, who won by a third period fall over South Central regional champion Angela Imorhoa (29-3) of York Suburban.
The girls championship quarterfinals will get started on Friday at 11:45 am, while there is a first round of consolations to be wrestled today and as mentioned in an earlier report, Lady Wildcat Austynn Falls will be competing in the consolations.
