Central Mountain Girls Fall to Penns Valley in Hard-Fought Overtime Battle

 

MILL HALL-Central Mountain struggled with turnovers and defensive rebounding in the first half against visiting Penns Valley on Monday night, trailing 25-17 at the halftime break. However, the Lady Wildcats showed their resilience and potential with a second-half surge, scoring 54 points across the half and overtime. Despite their efforts, they ultimately fell short in a thrilling 76-71 contest.

Ava Doyle led Central Mountain with 16 points and dominated the boards, collecting 14 rebounds to secure her first career double-double. Her sister, Taylor Doyle, and Lena Walker each contributed 15 points, while Macy Plowman added 11 to round out the four Lady Wildcats in double figures. Camdyn Weaver was a key playmaker, dishing out an impressive 11 assists.

The second-half performance highlighted what the Lady Wildcats are capable of when firing on all cylinders. Head coach Scott Baker praised the team’s tenacity and adjustments, which fueled their explosive comeback attempt.

Now 0-3 on the young season, Central Mountain will look to build on this momentum as they hit the road to face DuBois on Friday night in search of their first win.
