Central Mountain Girls Basketball Falls in Season Opener to Loyalsock
LOYALSOCK — The Central Mountain girls basketball team faced a tough challenge in their season opener Tuesday night, traveling to Loyalsock. Despite their efforts, the Lady Wildcats were defeated 58-32.
Loyalsock took control early, leading 16-10 after the first quarter and widening the gap to 35-19 by halftime. The Lancers continued to dominate in the third quarter, outscoring Central Mountain 16-8. While the Lady Wildcats held Loyalsock to just seven points in the final frame, they were unable to mount a comeback.
Central Mountain was led by Camdyn Weaver, who scored eight points. Lena Walker added seven points. Taylor Doyle and Ava Doyle each scored six points. Macy Plowman and Elise McKean chipped in two points apiece, while Jayce Tripp added one point.
Loyalsock displayed balanced scoring and strong defense throughout the game, proving to be a challenging opponent for Central Mountain in their opening contest.
Central Mountain will look to bounce back as they continue their early-season schedule when they next will travel to Hughesville Friday.
