Shore’s Caputo Shuts Down Lady Wildcats
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Jersey Shore softball ace Rebecca Caputo was masterful on Tuesday, shutting down the Central Mountain offense in an 8-1 Lady Bulldog road win.
Caputo went the distance, scattering seven hits. It was her second complete game win this season, the senior throwing a 4-hitter in a 4-0 win over Berwick earlier this month.
Central Mountain meanwhile struggled. After a scoreless first inning the visiting Lady Bulldogs put up five unearned runs, helped by two CM errors, and never looked back.
Only freshman Josie Dershem had much success off Caputo. She drove in Central Mountain’s only run with a double to the centerfield fence in inning number five and added a line drive double down the third base line in the final frame.
Other Lady Wildcat hits came from Bree Hilty, Jess Strouse, Sara Reeder, Kim Coder and Courtney Poorman. Emily Strouse took the loss for the home team.
The loss dropped Central Mountain to 2-2 while ‘Shore moved to 2-0. Coach Dave Peters’ team travels to Selinsgrove Thursday and hosts District 6 rival State College on Friday.
