Free Electronics Collection Event

On Sat. October 19, from 9 am to 12 noon, and at no cost to Clinton County residents, CleanScapes is hosting their 3rd annual free electronics collection event at the Clinton County Conservation District in PorterTownship. Working and non-working electronics will be accepted, such as but not limited to TV’s, CD players, gaming consoles, cords and cables, and all computers and components. Large appliances, air conditioners, and business drop-offs will not be accepted, please contact the Wayne Twp. Landfill.

This event is sponsored by grants awarded by the Clinton County Community Foundation and Keep PA Beautiful combined with donations from Bald Eagle Township and Brenda and Don Lysle. “We seem to all have that old TV, a pile of unused electronics and drawers full of old cables. This event is one of CleanScapes’ favorites. In the past 2 years, our community members dropped off 755 TV’s and 11,203 lbs. of other electronics. All items are taken by a local company, eLoop, and from there all the components are recycled. Each event costs upwards of $10,000 and we couldn’t hold this community event without our sponsors and CleanScapes donations,” stated CleanScapes Treasurer Colleen Xethakis-Lacy. On October 19 CleanScapes goal is to collect another 10,000 lbs. in 3 hours.

AmeriCorps Seniors, CleanScapes volunteers, and Clinton County Probation clients will be on hand to assist the public when they arrive and to unload their items. Registration is required for a drop-off time and registrations will be accepted until Fri.12 noon, October 18 or until 10,000 lbs. maximum weight limit is reached. To register for a drop-off time, contact CleanScapes Project Director Elisabeth Lynch at 570.726.3511 or clintoncountycleanscapes@yahoo.com.
