Jersey Shore Dominates Penn Wood in 42-8 Victory, Improves to 6-2

The game vs Penn Wood (6 A, Lansdowne PA) was moved from its original day and date of Friday at 7 PM to Saturday at 2:30 PM.
Jersey Shore made the 3+ hour trip down I80 and the PA Turnpike for its second consecutive road and out of conference game vs the Patriots of the Delaware Valley League (2-5 overall record).
‘Shore opened the game scoring on its first offensive drive on a Elijah Jordan to Luke Ryan pass on 4th and 4 from the Penn Wood 18 yard line. The score came at 5:50 of the first quarter; PAT missed. The Bulldogs took the lead at 6-0.
After an Evan Snyder interception, a Jordan to Snyder catch and run on the key screen resulted in a 42 yard score for ‘Shore (11:02, 2nd). A Jordan to Bo Sechrist PAT pass extended the lead to 14-0.
The Bulldogs took control of the game with 3 more second quarter scores.
The first score came on a 1 yard Zeke Sechrist rush at the 7:21 mark and was set up by a Elijah Jordan scramble run to the Patriot’s 10 yard line. The Hale PAT made the score 21-0.
After another stellar defensive set, ‘Shore connected on a Jordan to Evan Snyder pass play to the Penn Wood 10 yard line. Then Bo Sechrist cashed in on a 2 yard run, followed by the Hale PAT, and the Bulldogs stretched its lead to 28-0.
The final score of the first half took place after a Nolan Pauling interception at the goal line with 2:21 remaining in the second quarter. On the interception return, a facemask penalty gave ‘Shore more working room and the offense made quick work and cashed in again with 53 seconds remaining before the break. Bo Sechrist ran it in from 6 yards out and the Hale PAT upped the score to 35-0.
With the game in the mercy rule, there were no scores in a quick running clock third quarter.
The game scoring concluded at the start of the final stanza with Nolan Pauling directing the offense and taking it in from 1 yard out at the 11:55 mark. Paul Hale’s fourth straight PAT stretched the Bulldog lead to 42-0.
Penn Wood finally got on the scoreboard with a 55 yard Cobbs to Sanders pass play and then tacked on a successful PAT pass, to make the final score 42-8 in favor of Jersey Shore.
With the win, ‘Shore improves its record to 6-2 and the team will move on to its final out of conference game at home vs. one loss Scranton Prep (3A). The game will be on Friday at 7 PM for Senior Night in Thompson Street Stadium.
