Hunting license sales kick off statewide

LOCK HAVEN – With lines in person and lines online, antlered and antlerless license sales kick off statewide today.
Since 2023, antlerless licenses are available the same day as antlered, leaving to many lines across the state for hunters to snag one of the favorite Wildlife Management Units (WMU) that always sells out first: our lovely area known as 2G.
I started off this morning at number 13,694 online and as of 10:00 AM my spot in line was just below 5,800 people ahead of me.
Unkel Joe’s Woodshed this morning saw frustrated hunters having to wait until the store opened at 10 AM for their shot at a license, different from the previous year when a line was already at the door by 8:15 AM.
The county Treasurer’s office saw a line at least 3-dozen deep before the 8 AM sale time.
Meanwhile, at Walmart in Mill Hall, it was reported that a line had already formed by 7 AM and it was approaching the doors by 8 AM.
Tony’s Hardware in Renovo reportedly had a line of customers waiting outside which one person referred to as “looking like a Black Friday sale.”
In all, 37,000 antlerless licenses will be available in our coveted 2G region.
To those waiting in lines online or in person, “may the odds be ever in your favor.”
