Keystone 12s Down Loyalsock in Season Opener 9-2
COGAN STATION – In a commanding season-opening performance, the Keystone 12s overpowered Loyalsock Baseball with a final score of 9-2 on Thursday. The game, held at Hepburn Little League Fields, kicked off the All-Stars season for the Little League division. Initially scheduled for Wednesday night, the game was delayed and ultimately rescheduled due to weather. Keystone is managed by Tony Miller this season.
Keystone opened the scoring early, taking advantage of two walks in the first inning. Giovanni Cej drew a crucial walk to bring in the first run. The team continued to build on their momentum, capitalizing on a series of key hits and offensive plays.
Chase Karstetter earned the win for Keystone, pitching four and two-thirds innings. He gave up just three hits and two runs, striking out six batters and walking four. Giovanni Cej came in for the save, pitching one and one-third innings without allowing a hit and striking out three.
The offense for Keystone was keep coming, accumulating eleven hits. Austin Dupert, Ehan Nestor, and Cooper Strouse each contributed two hits to lead the team. Giovanni Cej, Mack Packer, and Brad Brungard drove in two runs each, demonstrating the team’s strong batting lineup.
Austin Dupert not only secured two hits but also stole two bases. Ehan Nestor and Chase Karstetter also made significant contributions on the bases, each recording a stolen base.
Loyalsock’s Cooper V led his team with one RBI, going 1-for-3 at the plate. Ace K was a standout for Loyalsock, going 2-for-2. Despite their efforts, Loyalsock could not overcome Keystone’s pitching and offense.
With this victory, Keystone will be right back at it again on Friday, taking on the winner of the South Williamsport vs. Montoursville game that was played at Hepburn after the Keystone game. The game on Friday is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start at Loyalsock.
