Renovo Water Line Break Repaired, Residents Receive Continuous Supply

RENOVO – Renovo faced a significant water emergency this morning when a powerful storm caused  a large tree to fall, leading to the rupture of the Renovo Water Department’s 12″ main cast iron line. This line, essential for supplying water from the East Renovo reservoir down along Paddy’s Run, suffered a severe break, disrupting the town’s normal flow.

Renovo Fire Department was able to secure and provide water for anyone in need.

The aftermath of the incident was immediate and widespread. Renovo’s schools were forced to cancel classes, and numerous businesses had no choice but to shut their doors temporarily. As news of the water crisis spread, social media became inundated with concerned residents seeking information and updates.

One particularly alarming Facebook post hinted at potential delays, suggesting that repairs could take up to a week to complete. However, swift action and efficient coordination among local authorities led to a much speedier resolution. The main break was swiftly located on Monday morning, and repair efforts started immediately.

The repair operation concluded in just five hours. During this critical period, the neighboring town of South Renovo stepped in, ensuring that Renovo, including Chapman Township, continued to receive water supplies. This collaborative effort mitigated the severity of the situation, preventing any residents from enduring prolonged water shortages.

While the immediate crisis has been averted, precautionary measures remain in place. A water boil advisory has been issued, pending the results of future sample testing. Despite this advisory, the water system has been restored to functionality, with water flowing through the Paddy’s Run reservoir once again.
