Lingle Announces Run for D.A.
LOCK HAVEN – Frederick D. Lingle has announced his candidacy for the office of District Attorney of Clinton County.
“The recent series of armed robberies in Clinton County,” Lingle said, “tell us that crime is still very much with us and of our need for a strong District Attorney who is more than willing to take those guilty of crime to trial and with the ability to obtain convictions.”
“I believe that my experience in criminal law and as a prosecutor make me the most qualified person for this position,” he said.
Lingle has previously served as District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney. After he served as District Attorney, he was appointed “special prosecutor” for various criminal cases by then Judge Carson Brown.
Lingle was graduated from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle where he was elected President of the Student Government. He graduated from Lock Haven University with honors and was valedictorian of his class at the former Bald Eagle-Nittany High School.
He also has taught Criminal Procedure at Lock Haven University as an Adjunct Professor.
A native of Beech Creek and a lifelong resident of Clinton County, his parents were the late Harry and Vera Lingle. Lingle resides in Woodward Township with his wife Susan. They attend the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church.
Lingle served his country in the United States Army which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. “I’m very proud of my military service,” he said. Over the years he has assisted various veterans’ organizations throughout the county with legal matters. He is a member of the Beech Creek American Legion, the Lock Haven Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Clinton County 40 & 8. He also provided legal assistance to the statewide 40 & 8 organization.
“This is not Philadelphia or Pittsburgh where the District Attorney is an administrator,” Lingle said. “In Clinton County, our district attorney must be willing and able to go to court and try cases. I look forward to that challenge and the opportunity to work with our county police forces.”
