FARWELL, PA- It was fast and furious in Farwell Tuesday afternoon. Bucktail’s softball team would snap their 2-game slide in quick fashion over visiting Oswayo Valley behind some strong senior play during the Lady Bucks’ Senior Day. Seniors Haley Burrows, Kayla Probert, Lily Francis and Abby Miller all contributed to the 15-0 3-inning victory over the Lady Green Wave.

Oswayo Valley entered the contest at 5-5 and were currently sitting in third place in the District 9 1A standings. The opposition for Bucktail appeared to be stiff, but the Lady Bucks seniors made sure to rally their team to victory.

Burrows had one of her best offensive games of the season by going 3 for 3, with a triple and 4 RBI’s. Probert would go 2 for 2 on the day with a double and 4 RBI’s. Francis and Miller would each score runs during the contest as well.

Bucktail jumped out to a 9-0 lead following an inning in which 12 batters came to the plate.

The Lady Bucks would be in cruise control, especially riding the arm of freshman hurler Makenna Stone. Stone would pitch a complete 3-inning game and shut out a very dangerous Lady Green Wave offense. Coming into the contest Oswayo Valley had scored double figures in 6 games. Stone held them to just 2 hits, 2 walks and collected a strike out.

Bucktail added 5 runs in the bottom of the second inning and Alexis Lowery would score the fifteenth run in the bottom of third to end the contest.

Underclassmen also came to play on Senior Day. Mak Wagner would go 3 for 3 with a triple and 4 RBI’s. Matti Mason and Lola English would collect two hits each to round out the multiple hitters. Eva Sockman, Kendall Wagner and Alexis Lowery all collected singles, which were part of a 15-hit day for Bucktail.

Now 11-4, Bucktail continues to hold the top spot in the District 4 1A rankings and will be closing in on the number one seed in the playoffs. A win at Sugar Valley (2-15) Friday would move them closer to that goal. That game in Booneville is slated to be livestreamed on The Record Online.
