LH YMCA Gymnasts qualify for the PA Classic to compete for their schools.

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Members of the Lock Haven Branch YMCA Gymnastics Team qualified for the PA Classic, the gymnastics equivalent to the PIAA State Competition. The PA Classic will be held this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18-19 at Moon High School near Pittsburgh.

Sugar Valley Rural Charter School’s Mia Sycz qualified in Silver for vault, beam and floor. Central Mountain High School gymnasts Samantha Streator, Emily Everett, and Dee Hefferon qualified in Silver for vault, beam, and floor, for floor, and Bronze for All-Around, respectively. In order to qualify for the state competition, each gymnast needed to attain five minimum scores on every event. Just to qualify for this event is a feat in itself.

Also competing this weekend will be middle school and elementary gymnasts at the Melanie Breitenstein Invitational. This meet is a fun opportunity for up-and-coming gymnasts to get experience on a big stage. Central Mountain Middle Schoolers Harper Conklin, Summer Biggans, and Ashlynn Confer will compete along with Emilia Grieco from Woodward Elementary and Brennah McKinney from Robb Elementary.
