CM cross country teams do well at districts; Wolfe qualifies for states

LEWISTOWN, PA – Central Mountain senior Abbey Wolfe ran an impressive 5K race at the 2022 PIAA District 6 Championships at Indian Valley Elementary School on Saturday. She finished 4th overall in a PR time of 19:08.50.  Her 4th place finish secured her a ticket to the PIAA State Championships at Hershey next Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Junior Sofia Dressler was the second Wildcat to cross the finish line in 21st place with her best time of the season of 22:18.40.  Sophomore Sopia Croce ran another PR on Saturday finishing 28th in 23:13. Autumn Garman was the 4th Wildcat to finish in 35th place in 24:05.20.  Gracie Johnson finished 44th in a time of 26:36.40.  Calienna Cardinal finished 46th in 26:37.30.  Senio, Leanne Miller, was the final Wildcat to finish on Saturday.  She completed her final high school race finishing 47th with a new PR of 26:56.00.

The Central Mountain boys team competed also and nine team members recorded new PRs.  Sophomore, Sam Wibble led the charge for the Wildcats like he has done all season.  Sam finished 29th overall with a new PR of 18:10.10.  Senior Skylar Small capped off his racing career in style with a PR of 18:56.80 finishing in 41st.  Freshman Damien Winner was the third Wildcat to cross the finish line with a new PR of 19:01.20 in 44th place.  CM senior Colby Heverly was the next to PR for the Wildcats.  Colby finished 47th in 19:49.10.  Junior Nick Piergallini, finished right behind Heverly in 48th place in 19:58.  Freshman, Jaxon Hardy capped off his first year of XC with a new PR of 20:48 finishing 53rd.  Freshman Wyatt Heeman was the final CM Varsity runner to finish on Saturday in 54th place in 21:56.30.  Four CM JV runners also had the opportunity to compete in a combined JV race.  All four Wildcats ran PR’s on the day.  Sophomore Cody Etters finished 4th in 20:25.30. Junior Robbie Andrews finished 48th in 20:30. Senior Dylan Russell finished 56th in 22:08.60.  Freshman Rhys Swift finished 70th in 24:23.

Coach Scott Bair said, “The Wildcats showed amazing improvement from the beginning of the year to the end.  Great season cats!”
