LHU: Women’s Cross Country in action at LHU Invitational
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The regionally-ranked Lock Haven women’s cross country team was back in action today and hosted the LHU Invitational at the West Branch Cross Country Course at the Stern Family Athletic Complex.
Today’s field included over 40 teams from nine states that stretched across all divisions including and NCAA I, III, III. The No. 6 Atlantic Region ranked Bald Eagles were joined by fellow regionally-ranked Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) ranked rivals: No. 3 Slippery Rock, No. 4 Seton Hill and No. 7 Bloomsburg.
In the crimson 6K race, The Haven’s lead pack featured six runners who all finished within a sixth of a second. Megan Mudger (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) led the way with a 24:00.2, followed by Krista Jones (Friendsville, Pa./Elk Lake) at 24:00.4, and Gwen Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Towson Univ.), who finished in 24:00.5. Billie Jo Bollinger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and Elaina Klinger (Danville, Pa./Danville) were both clocked at 24:00.7 and Aubrey Sechrist (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) rounded out the tight grouping with a 24:00.8. The Bald Eagles would place 19th out of 34 teams in the event.
In the final race of the day, the white 6K race, Lauren Mehler (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) paced the Lock Haven finishers and placed 40th of 117 with a time of 25:53.5. Delaney Cutter (New Cumberland, Pa./Red Land) was close on her heels and clocked a time of 26:03.3 in 44th place. Paige Daugherty (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) rounded out the top three for LHU at 26:09.4 and placed 48th as the trio of Bald Eagle finishers in the top 50 helped Lock Haven take ninth in the white race.
Lock Haven will return to action on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh.
