LHU: Men’s Cross Country takes on the LHU Invitational
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The regionally-ranked Lock Haven men’s cross country team turned in a solid team effort on Saturday (Sept. 24) morning as the Bald Eagles hosted the LHU Invitational at the West Branch Cross Country Course at the Stern Family Athletic Complex.
Today’s field included over 40 teams from nine states that stretched across all divisions including NCAA Division I, III, III. The No. 6 Atlantic Region ranked Bald Eagles were joined by fellow regionally-ranked Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe No. 9 Slippery Rock, along with a number of highly-ranked Division III programs.
In the opening crimson 8K run, Vincent Fennell (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) led the way for The Haven pack and clocked in at 26:46.9 in 84th out of 290 runners. The trio of Mason Ochs (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview), Morgan Gavitt (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) all landed in the top-100 and underneath the 27-minute mark. The Bald Eagles notched 12th place out of 34 teams.
In the white 8K race, the Bald Eagles ran to third place out of 14 squads. Noah Shedden (Canton, Pa./Mansfield) and Chris Hine (Plains, Pa./Holy Redeemer) finished side by side to lead the Bald Eagles. Shedden placed 13th with a 27:27.0 and Hine clocked in at 27:27.1 in 14th out of 154 runners.
The trio of Gage Krall (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon), Tanner Walter (New Columbia, Pa./Milton) and Andrew Wehrle (Rossiter, Pa./Punxsutawney) came across the finish in sync and placed 30th through 32nd. Krall’s mark led the group with a 28:02.8, while Walter and Wehrle both clocked in at 28:03.2.
