Obituary

Theodore Franklin “Ted” Hovermale Jr., 67, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 peacefully at home in Lock Haven. 

He was born in Pittsburgh on March 6, 1955, the son of the late Theodore, Sr. and Mary Jane (Ward) Hovermale. 

He graduated from Shaler High School and went on to earn a degree in Agriculture from Penn State University. He was employed at Queens Three Farms in Zion.

Ted will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman stemming from his childhood where he obtained the highest rank of Eagle Scout through present day where he served as the Director of the Ski Patrol at Tussey Mountain. Throughout his life, he worked to help others through his service as a firefighter, EMT, ski patroller, and pack leader in Cub Scouts. He also enjoyed spending time at Sayers Dam and on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis on his sail boats.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Kay Fisher of Flemington; Kay’s son, John (Ashley) Fisher and family of Centre Hall; and a cousin, Donna (Jack) Coursen and family of Centre Hall.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.  A brief service with Pastor Alison Grove officiating will follow.

Memorial contributions in Ted’s name may be made to either the Ski Patrol of Tussey Mountain or Boy Scouts, Pack 66 through the funeral home.
