BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Central Mountain boys’ tennis coach Pete Wert has piled up one successful season after another in his long run as head coach for both the boys and girls programs. And 2022 should be no different this spring for the boys’ side of things.

All the Wildcat players are back from a year ago, along with some new faces. Lettermen include David Lindsay, Ethan Hall, Jackson Walker, Nate Brinker, Asher Talbot, Leisher Gugino and Lucas Porter.

Lindsay is a special talent, the returning District Six champion. As a freshman last season he lost narrowly in the state quarter-finals to the eventual state champion. As coach Wert notes, “He will be looking to maybe improve on that outcome this year.”

Team-wise the Wildcats finished tied for second in the Heartland Conference last year so the coach said the goal for this season will be to hopefully move into the top spot. “Williamsport will offer a stiff challenge to us in the PHAC and Hollidaysburg will be difficult to beat in the District Six team tournament.  So we are optimistic about the upcoming tennis season and the boys will work hard to represent their school.”

The Wildcats were off to a 1-1 start through last week and Lindsay was 2-0 playing from the No. 1 spot in the line-up. They are to host Mifflinburg on Thursday of this week and travel to Danville next Monday.
