Lock Haven Motel project gets county planning commission review on Tuesday

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Stalled renovations at a Bald Eagle Township motel is a topic for review at this Tuesday’s meeting of the Clinton County Planning Commission.

A significant expansion had been underway at the Lock Haven Motel just off Hogan Boulevard when it was stopped on February 16. Representatives from Bald Eagle Township, where the hotel is located, said developer Troy Musser of Jersey Shore had been issued a cease and desist order for not obtaining necessary permits. But Musser said he voluntarily pulled his construction crew from the site until the permitting issues are resolved.

The project is on the agenda for this Tuesday’s meeting of the Clinton County Planning Commission. According to information from the county planning office, the process for such projects is threefold:

  • A county planning review;
  • Township planning review; these can both be at the same time, but the county review must happen before the township supervisors would consider;
  • Township supervisor consideration.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first floor meeting room at the county’s Piper Building.

Musser’s company had acquired the hotel from previous owner Ron Pete on January 4 for $520,000, according to records at the county assessment office. Musser subsequently began renovations to the 28-unit, one-level structure. He said his firm was developing an “upscale” motel, adding a living room to each unit, the end product to be called “the Lock Haven Motel and Suites.”
