Clinton County announces project to learn where AEDS are located

FLEMINGTON, PA – The Clinton County Department of Emergency Services has announced it will be conducting a survey to determine the location of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) within Clinton County. The data collected from this survey will be used to “pin” AED locations on the map feature of the 9-1-1 Center’s Computer Aided Dispatch software (CAD). This information will give 9-1-1 Dispatchers the ability to direct callers/bystanders to a nearby AED if they receive an emergency call that warrants the use of one. Dispatchers will provide further instructions to the caller/bystander until EMS personnel arrive

The county release said AEDs can be lifesaving tools as they are a machine that decides if a patient has an abnormal heart rhythm and then decides if a shock should be given. These are vital tools that can save neighbors, friends, and family’s lives. Everyone should receive proper training before using an AED. Proper training can be given during CPR class by a qualified instructor. Training and checking AEDs must be done every year.

The Clinton County Department of Emergency Services is encouraging all businesses with AEDs to participate in the survey to potentially save the life of someone in need. If you or your business would like to take part in the survey, please email hpark@clintoncountypa.gov by March 14th.
