Lady Wildcats down Mifflinburg, 41-33

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The Central Mountain girls basketball team for the second night in a row jumped out to a first period lead but this time Coach Scott Baker’s young team didn’t let it get away from them. Monday night, on the road, Milton overcame a 10-4 deficit to down the Lady ‘Cats by a 42-28 score. But Tuesday was a different story. Central Mountain, back on its home court, led by a 10-7 count after one and the game stayed close for a long time, a 13-12 CM edge at the half. But a 28 point second half propelled Central Mountain to a 41-33 win over visiting Mifflinburg.

Central Mountain used a big edge in rebounding, 47 to 31, to help secure the victory, moving the Lady Wildcats to 6-11, Mifflinburg falling to 4-11 with the loss. Junior Kiahna Jones had a double-double to pace CM: 11 rebounds and 11 points; she also had three blocked shots and four steals. Taylor Doyle was right behind with 10 points and four steals of her own.

Mia Kopyscianski had 9 points and snared 10 rebounds. Other points came from Ava Doyle with 4, Danica Kelley 3 and Reese Doyle and Keely Rohrbach with 2 each. Rohrbach had 2 steals and both Taylor and Ava Doyle had four rebounds each.

The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on the road Friday at Shikellamy (13-5).
