Students honored for artistic pumpkins
LOCK HAVEN, PA – They were all winners, the 11 youngsters who submitted pumpkins they decorated from the dozens harvested from a special pumpkin patch at the Lamar office of the Clinton Conservation Service. The participants came from pumpkins from 30 mounds planted in the district’s vegetable patch outside the service’s facility along Route 64.
Monday evening they gathered at the Clinton County Piper Building to be recognized for their efforts. District manager Wade Jodun presented them with gift cards.
Four pumpkin decorators also received a pumpkin pie from Simone’s Bakery in Lock Haven for their efforts.
Those four had been selected by judges for the quality of their work. They were:
County commissioners’ choice: Holden Spangler
County court choice: Hailey Condo
Conservation staff choice: Camden Ramser
People’s choice: Landon Evarts
Camden Ramser was unable to be present for the presentation.
Jodun said, “As I see it, the job of the Conservation District is to invest in the future of Clinton County. When we ask for manure management plans or erosion control plans we’re investing in a future that includes clean water. Raising pumpkins, decorating pumpkins is an investment in these kids. Who knows? Maybe one of these kids is our next farmer, our next Conservationist, our next artist or our next art teacher. ”
