Simander enters Naval Academy

ANNAPOLIS, MD- A young Lock Haven woman this week will fulfill her longtime dream of attending the United States Naval Academy.

Kathleen Simander, a recent graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Boalsburg, was to arrive in Annapolis on Tuesday with her induction swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Wednesday evening. The daughter of Stephanie Simander and Matthew Clark, she received a direct appointment to the USNA.

Simander plans to compete on the Naval track and cross country teams. She was a multi-year, medal-winning runner at St. Joseph’s as she competed in several sports there. She attended Lock Haven Catholic School through the eighth grade and attended St. Joseph’s for grades nine through 12.

Her athletic accomplishments are numerous, including a third place finish at the recent PIAA track meet in Shippensburg:
