Braves sweep Central Mountain in track

SUNBURY, PA – The Central Mountain girls’ track team put up quite a battle at Shikellamy on Tuesday, but fell to the Lady Braves by a 79.5 to 69.5 score; the Shik boys won by a 131-19 margin.

Central Mountain’s Lily Hendricks had an outstanding showing on the girls’ side; she finished first in the long jump and high jump and added a first as part of the 4×100 relay team. Other relay members were Kiahna Jones, Danica Kelly and Rachel Hall. Jones also added a first place in the triple jump.

Ashley Rich took her specialty, the high hurdles and also had a second place finish in the long jump. Mallory Eck was a double-winner, taking first in the javelin and shot put. Other firsts came from Madison Bair in the 400 and Cami Wiseman in the 300 hurdles.

Brett Gerlach paced the boys with second places in the high jump and triple jump. Dominick Kennedy finished second in the 200 and third in the 100. Caleb Porter was second in the 400 and third in the high jump. Anton Stratts was second in the discus; Logan Dawes, third in the shot put; and Bryce Gray, third in the 3200.

Next competition will be the Heartland Conference championships at Hughesville on Saturday.
