Police Investigation Continues in Tragic Woodward Township Accident

WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – Police in Woodward Township have issued a preliminary report on a Tuesday accident which ended in the death of a woman who had been standing along a roadside.

That accident claimed the life of Rachel Dawn Kauffman, 42, of Mill Hall.

On Tuesday November 10, 2020 at 4:01pm Woodward Township Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Cider Press Road. Upon arrival police discovered the accident involved four vehicles and a pedestrian.

The initial investigation revealed that a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and a 2008 Dodge Nitro were driving in opposite directions on Cider Press Road when they collided on the roadway causing the Jeep Cherokee to leave the roadway and roll over in the front driveway area of 305 Cider Press Road where a 42-year-old female was standing next to her parked van. The Jeep Cherokee struck the female and van & then struck a 2010 Ford Escape which was also parked in front of the residence. The female was transported to UPMC Lock Haven Hospital for her injuries however efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.

The accident is still in the preliminary stages of the investigation and a final cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The accident is being investigated by the township police with assistance from the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit from the PSP Montoursville Barracks.

Lock Haven Ambulance 22, the Dunnstown Fire Company Station 5 and the Woolrich Fire Company Station 12 also assisted township police at the scene.
