Three Coronavirus Deaths Listed for Clinton County; State Case Numbers Relatively Stable
LOCK HAVEN – The reports from Harrisburg on deaths attributed to the coronavirus have recently listed three from Clinton County, for the first time since the pandemic moved across the state several months ago.
Asked if his office had been involved and had any information, Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna said none have been handled by him and he was not privy to any details on those deaths. He did offer this: “My theory is that the patients died in medical facilities/nursing homes outside of Clinton County but hold a permanent address within Clinton County and therefore would be considered Clinton County deaths. I know this is true of at least one of the cases where the patient died at ManorCare-Jersey Shore.”
Meanwhile state Health Department information from Harrisburg continues to show a downward trend for cases across the state.
The Tuesday update confirmed as of 12:00 p.m., June 2, that there are an additional 612 positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 72,894. The department also reported a death total of 5,567, the same as Monday.
Clinton County cases moved up 3 to 60, Centre County holding at 154 and Lycoming County stayed at 164 for the fourth day in a row. Other counties adjoining Clinton are: Clearfield, 42; Cameron, 2; Potter, 4; and Union, 60.
There are 399,361 people who have tested negative statewide to date. The state Health Department listing said of state residents afflicted with the virus, 67 percent of them have recovered. That number of tests is 652 in Clinton County.
If you click on the the individual counties on the map, a pop-up graphic will open to share the number of cases in that county. The darker shades of red color overlays for a county indicates a higher number of officially confirmed cases for that county. For the zip code map, the darker shades of blue color overlays indicate the higher number of confirmed cases. The map is updated daily as reports are made to state officials.
