Central Mountain Swimming Starts Next Week
LOCK HAVEN – The Central Mountain swim team, boys and girls, numbers 18 this year as they practice at Lock Haven University’s Zimmerli Pool for the start of the season next week.
Previously Jim Merinar and Carol Matheney shared the head coaching duties, but this season will see a modification, Merinar the head coach and Matheney the assistant.
Goals this year are to continue to rewrite the Central Mountain record book and send the entire team to the District 6 tournament. The coaches said goals for the new season also include improve the swimmers’ fitness and increase their training yardage.
Three team members are currently injured; it is hoped they’ll be back to make an impact. There are six seniors on the team this season. First meet will be Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m., home at the Zimmerli Pool on the campus of Lock Haven University. Admission is free for the swim meets.
