Probst No-Hits State College

leg-ba-logo2BEECH CREEK – Renovo’s Chuck Probst has pitched a lot of baseball in his young ball-playing career but until Tuesday evening he had never thrown a no-hitter.

Probst, 24 hours after graduating from Bucktail High School, took to the hill at the Beech Creek American Legion Field and put up a seven-inning no-hitter, Beech Creek winning a 3-0 game over State College.

c-probst-140610Probst was in command throughout, striking out 14, walking five and hitting one. Only in the sixth was he in danger, loading the bases with two walks and a hit batter. But the Crickets nailed a State runner off third in a rundown and the visitors never threatened again. Probst finished Tuesday’s game with a strikeout

He had a one-hitter a couple years back in Legion competition against Jersey Shore.

Earlier Tuesday Probst was named to the Mid-Penn Conference all-star team. He plans to continue his baseball career while attending Gettysburg College beginning this fall.

The Crickets are now 3-1. They scratched out two runs in the first and added their final score in the fifth inning.

Next up is a home game Thursday with Hollidaysburg.
