Jacob Daniel Hunsinger, Jr., 68, of Lock Haven passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born in Charlton on November 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Jacob Daniel and Sarah Rhine Hunsinger, Sr.

Jake entered the United States Air Force in 1965, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1967.

He was a painter and did various other contracting jobs as well.

Jake was a member of the 40&8 Voiture Locale 903 where he held positions including Grand Chef de Train at the State level and Chef de Gare at the local level.  He took great pride in the 40&8 locomotive, “Locy,” which he enjoyed driving in parades.  He also looked forward to taking “Locy” to the Special Olympics in State College each June where he would shuttle the participants to their various activities and give them apples and pins.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post 131 where he served as Vice Commander for several years.

Surviving is a daughter, Melissa Confer of Lock Haven; a son, Sean Hunsinger of Harrisburg; a step-daughter, Laura Gleckner of McElhattan; a step-son, Harold (Jenny) Leupold of Mill Hall; a brother, John Hunsinger of Lock Haven; two grandchildren, Jared Confer of Avis and Alisha Confer of Lock Haven; three step-grandchildren: Sophie Leupold, Gavin Leupold, and Kaci Gleckner; two great grandsons, Kaleb and Jared Confer; and two nieces, Tracie Heller of Mill Hall and Bobbie Jo Hunsinger of Lock Haven.

In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by four siblings: Mary J. Rafter, Clarence Hunsinger, Sarah Jane Hunsinger, and an infant sister, Francis Hunsinger.

A funeral service including a ceremony by the 40&8 will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 1 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.  Burial with Military Honors presented by the American Legion Posts 131 will follow at Green Valley Cemetery, Hughesville.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
