George W. Peasley – Obituary

MILL HALL – George W. “Sonny” Peasley, 82, of Mill Hall passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven.
Born on August 4, 1933 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late William and Helen Bryon Peasley.
Sonny attended Lock Haven High School.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953, earning the rank of Sergeant.
On June 7, 1952 he married the love of his life, the former Roberta Lee Warner, who preceded him in death on February 25, 1998.
In his earlier years Sonny worked for the railroad in New York. He then worked as a truck driver for various companies until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the river lot on the Susquehanna River. Sonny loved NASCAR. Most important to him, though, was his family.
In May 2010 Sonny had the privilege of being presented with his Military medals by Colonel Reynolds and the Honor Guard in front of 200 of his family and friends. This was made possible by two special people, Sue Bardo and Dave Bowers.
Surviving are six children: Soni Summers of McElhattan, Marlene (Jeff) Snyder of Mill Hall, Georgia Gunsallus of Boulder Creek, CA; Becky (Dan) Campbell of Lock Haven, George “Willy” Peasley, Jr. of Mill Hall, and Patty (Doug) Shoemaker of Jersey Shore; two sisters, Pat Beury of McElhattan and Shirley Myers of Lock Haven; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and his beloved beagle, D.J.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mick Peasley.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Pastor Dennis Callahan officiating. Military Honors will follow. Private burial will be at Woolrich Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.. as well as on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sonny’s name to the Susque View Home Residents’ Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
