Lady Bucks handle visiting Lady Green Hornets, 5-0

By Bees O’Brien

Farwell- Bucktail tennis had little trouble against Wellsboro on Tuesday afternoon. This was the Lady Bucks final tune up before Mid Penn Conference play begins tomorrow at home against Montgomery.

Bucktail improved to 3-0 following an impressive 5-0 sweep of the Lady Green Hornets, but the NTL visitors made things interesting throughout the match.

Eva Sockman powered past Olivia Gage 6-1, 6-0 at number one. Kendall Wagner was pushed at the number two spot, but gained the 6-4, 6-3 win over Evelyn Wetherbee. Lola English completed the singles sweep for Bucktail singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Wellsboro’s Serenity Mosher.

Bucktail kept fighting off a pesky Lady Green Hornets effort in doubles. McKenna Bissman and Kelsie Wagner were tested by the visiting Logan Root and Piper Anderegg by a count of 6-2, 7-5.

Riley Salizonni and Carrie Ditty completed the Bucktail sweep at number two double by downing Angie Cory and Aniyah Webb in a competitive 6-2, 4-6, TB 10-7.

Bucktail will now begin Mid Penn play at home against Montgomery on Wednesday before traveling to Wellsboro on Thursday for a rematch with the Lady Green Hornets.
