Renovo DAR Honors 2025 Good Citizen Mattisyn Mason for Academic Excellence, Leadership, and Service
RENOVO – The Renovo Chapter DAR met on April 8, 2025 at Sportsman’s Hotel. We were pleased to host Mattisyn Mason, her mother Charlene Mason and her grandmother Vera Hough. Mattisyn is our Good Citizen for 2025.
Mattisyn presented us with a summary of her accomplishments which include maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. In addition to her academic accomplishments she is a member of Varsity Club, Yearbook Club, Environmental Club, PBIS Club, and Student Government. She also excels in athletics. She participated in basketball, softball, cheerleading, and tennis. She also has actively participated in community service. Mattisyn coached 5th and 6th grade girls basketball, and participated in the Heritage Park Haunted House and Magic in the Air.
Mattisyn holds the title of Miss Bucktail and Homecoming Queen. Mattisyn has joined the United States Army National Guard as a combat medic. The Renovo Chapter is very pleased to honor her as our Good Citizen.
During our meeting we were reminded that March is Women’s History Month. Regent Marilyn Short read a short poem by A. Viola Campbell, a past member and teacher at Renovo Elementary School, about Sybil Luddington who along with Paul Revere and others warned that the British were coming in 1775.
Looking forward to our May meeting we will look at May Dates of Note which include: May 1 is the National Day of Prayer. May 25, 1787 delegates of the 13 states met in Philadelphia to revise the Articles of Confederation but quickly decided to draw up a new scheme of government, resulting in the Constitution. May 4, 1942 the first naval battle conducted entirely by planes from carriers occurred. May 7, 1945 German military leaders surrendered to General Eisenhower in Rheims France. The surrender was formally signed in Berlin on May 8 and is called VE DAY (Victory in Europe).
History repeats itself…..so study it!
