Woodward Township Sign, Sewer Building, Storage Trailer Discussed

WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – Under the News Business portion of the Woodward Township Supervisors meeting, supervisors discussed the future of some of the business listings on the Woodward Township sign at the end of the Jay Street bridge.

“We have local businesses that advertise there, originally only Woodward Township-based businesses, and there are a handful that are in rough shape,” supervisor Kyle Coleman said.

“We are looking into reviewing all of the signs and reaching out to the business owners whose signs are in rough shape, asking for them to redo their signs. We do have language in the zoning ordinance stating that the signs must be maintained.”

Supervisor John Barth mentioned that the war memorial sign at the other end of the Woodward Township sign area will also be revisited to gather quotes for repairs and renovations.

Township supervisors also started the conversation about what to do with the building that houses the sewer headquarters.

Aptly named “the sewer house,” supervisors look to sell the property in the future to return it to the tax rolls.

“We want to try to sell the house and further consolidate our offices into what we have here on Riverside Terrace,” Coleman said.

Supervisors also discussed the need for a trailer or storage area to hold Recreation supplies.

“We are starting to get a lot of supplies stored in different places including my own personal trailer for Recreation items,” Coleman said. “With things for the egg hunt and Riverfest, we really need a spot to store them all together and I think we should consider a trailer to have a single home for all things Recreation.”

From the floor, township residents also stated that they think they should have “first dibs” on the river lot lottery process.

As well, a concerned resident brought up a letter that he received asking him to clean up their property within 30 days or face a fine.

“We have more letters going out,” Coleman said. “Letters go out to this whose name is deeded on the property and we will not enforce a fine as long as we see progress being made on the clean up.”
