James Baumgratz Captivates Fans at Renovo Library with ‘Murders & Mysterious Deaths in the Pennsylvania Wilds’
By Kevin Rauch
True Crime author James Baumgratz kept audience members on the edge of their seats as the writer appeared at a book signing at the Renovo Area Public Library for his newest effort “Murders & Mysterious Deaths in the Pennsylvania Wilds.”
Baumgtratz’s writing and research career has made him a foremost expert of tragedies in the PA Wilds as his accounts of factual events have covered dozens of cases, many of which leaves readers with goosbumps and even amazement that so many incidents have occurred throughout desolate towns in Pennsylvania.
The author captivated those attending the signing as he answered questions and gave some details that aren’t even found in the pages of his book, as he expanded on the storytelling that his research has brought to light.
Courthouses, police stations, on scene investigations and reporting along with speaking to family and community members provided Baumgratz with his information found in the pages of his 226 page book.
What almost seems to have inspired Hollywood movies, the Elk County man thrilled the audience with tales of ‘the king of bootleggers in Johnsonburg”, bones found unsurprisingly in pig pens and one town wondering why so many men in three-piece suits kept falling in front of trains.
As with his previous books, Murders & Mysterious Deaths in the Pennsylvania Wilds reviews 25 cases that had horrific outcomes, some dating back to the early 1900’s.
