Comcast Announces Upcoming Price Increases for Lock Haven Residents

LOCK HAVEN— On November 18, 2024, a letter was sent to City Manager Greg Wilson from Comcast regarding price increases to its services. During the City Council meeting on Monday, December 17, notice of the price increases, which affect residents of Lock Haven, was briefly announced.

Wilson explained that Comcast provided the city with a list of price changes it will be implementing, as well as changes to some of its service packages.

Comcast customers in Lock Haven will see changes in pricing for Xfinity products and services, which are effective as of December 20, 2024. According to the letter sent to Wilson, Comcast claims that the price adjustments are due to an increase in “the cost of doing business”. The company also stated that these changes reflect its ongoing commitment to making its network and services stronger.

The changes will affect a variety of TV and internet packages. For example, the cost for the Limited Basic TV package, which includes the Broadcast TV Fee, will rise from $50.19 to $54.09 per month. Internet plans will also see changes, with the Connect package increasing from $68.00 to $71.00. Equipment fees, such as those for TV boxes and remotes, will also see an increase from $10.00 to $12.00.

The Autopay and Paperless Billing Discount will decrease from the current $5.00 down to a $2.00 discount, leaving less incentive for customers to enroll in autopayments.

Alongside these adjustments, Comcast will introduce a new billing format on December 10, 2024. The new bills will combine service charges and programming fees into one total cost for video packages while still showing a detailed breakdown of some specific fees so that customers can see what they’re being charged for.

Customers with billing dates between November 20, 2024, and December 9, 2024, will receive notification of these changes for their package as one bill message. Customers with billing dates starting December 10, 2024, will receive notice of price changes for their package as two bill messages: one containing the price change for the video portion of the package and a second containing the price change for any additional services within their package.

Comcast emphasizes these adjustments are necessary to continue delivering high-quality and innovative services amid rising operational costs.
