LHU’s Rocco Daugherty named PSAC East Football Defensive Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN– Rocco Daugherty of the Lock Haven football team was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday (Oct. 21).
On Saturday night, Daugherty finished with five tackles and forced and recovered a fumble for a touchdown to help lead the Bald Eagles to an exciting 35-32 victory over Bloomsburg.
Daugherty’s defensive touchdown came late in the first quarter to help The Haven jump out to a 21-6 lead, which proved crucial in the victory. The sophomore stripped the Huskies’ ball carrier and returned the fumble 14 yards to the house.
Daugherty now has three takeaways on the season after picking off two passes in the season opener.
The honor is the second weekly award tallied by the Bald Eagles this season after graduate transfer quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky was named Offensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 7.
The Bald Eagles enter week eight at 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC East and will travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Oct. 26 for a 12:05 p.m. conference showdown.
