Wildcats Fall in Overtime to Altoona, Await District Playoff Opponent
MILL HALL-For the fifth time this season, the Central Mountain Wildcats found themselves battling through overtime. With an unbeaten record in their previous four overtime games, the team approached the extra minutes with full confidence. However, AAAA Altoona had other plans.
Senior Lincoln Breon connected with freshman Gabe Killinger for the opening goal just eight minutes into the match, giving Central Mountain a 1-0 lead. After a long free kick by Isaiah Brinker was cleared back to his feet, Brinker sent a well-placed ball down the field, catching Altoonaās defense out of position. Breon seized the moment, delivering a sharp cross into the box, where Killinger calmly finished with his left foot. The goal marked Killingerās fourth of the season, and Breon notched his third assist, bringing his career total to 16.
Defensively, the Wildcats were solid as a unit, with strong midfield play and constant communication along the backline throughout the match. Despite the hard-fought effort, Altoona emerged victorious in the overtime period.
As the Wildcats head into the playoffs, they currently sit as the 3rd seed in the district. With district games wrapping up tonight, the Wildcats will soon learn their playoff opponent, with details expected to be released on Sunday.
