LHU Football downed by No. 5 Kutztown
KUTZTOWN – The Lock Haven football team fell to host and fifth-ranked Kutztown, 24-0, today (Saturday, Oct. 12) in a Week-6 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division clash.
With the loss, the Bald Eagles move to 2-4 overall and they are 1-2 in PSAC East play. Kutztown improved to a perfect 6-0 (3-0 PSAC East) with the victory.
The Golden Bears struck early and led 7-0 with 10:10 left in the first quarter. Kutztown extended the lead and led 17-0 at halftime as the hosts used the fast start and strong first half to pave the way to victory.
Defensively, Kasir Henry led the way for The Haven with a game-high eight tackles. Darryl Pollard finished with seven tackles and Jaeion Perry added a six-tackle outing.
Lock Haven quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky threw for 194 yards, while Quon Williams hauled in four catches. In all, nine different Bald Eagles recorded a catch today in an effort to spark the offense.
The Golden Bears were led by Jaedyn Stewart who rushed for 84 yards and Judd Novak who threw for three touchdowns.
Kutztown’s No. 5 national-ranking in this week’s American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II poll is the highest national ranking in school history. The Golden Bears will travel to Shippensburg next week.
After two straight weeks on the road, the Bald Eagles will return home to host Bloomsburg on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Week-7 PSAC East clash is set for 6 p.m. at Lock Haven’s Hubert Jack Stadium.
