Bucktail drops road contest to Union/AC Valley, 35-8

RIMERSBURG- A shorthanded Bucktail squad made the long three-hour venture to Clarion County on Friday night to meet up with D9 League Region 2’s Union/AC Valley. The host Falcon Knights were in need of a victory to keep pace with District 9 1A leaders Port Allegany, Otto-Eldred and Redbank Valley.

Union/AC Valley’s two losses this season came at the hands of Port Allegany and Redbank Valley. The Falcon Knights made a quick statement, jumping out to a 21-0 first quarter lead on the depleted Bucks.

Bucktail’s Stephen Heiser missed the game’s first half of play. His void on defense was felt in the opening half as the Falcon Knights would pile on two more second quarter scores to enforce the mercy rule on the Bucks in the second half.

Down 35-0 and with the clock continuously moving, Bucktail senior quarterback Brody Pentz would rip off a 73-yard touchdown run to get the Bucks on the board. Bucktail’s try for two was good on a pass play and they trailed 35-8. Unfortunately for the visiting Bucks that would be the end of their scoring on the night.

35-8 would be the final.

Pentz continued his strong senior campaign for the Bucks. The Bucktail signal caller would rack up 161 yards on 16 carries. He is now at 733 yards rushing on the season and is on pace to be the school’s first ever rusher to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in two seasons.

Teagan Stone also made an impact with his debut in the Bucktail backfield. The Freshman gained 12 yards on 7 carries.

The Bucks will now enter a bye week before squaring off with Route 120 rivals Cameron County in Emporium on October 11.
