Keystone 10-12 Majors Secure Spot in District 12 Championship Down WALL 8-2
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT– The Keystone 10-12 Majors secured an impressive 8-2 victory against WALL on Friday in a must win game. The win was a result of a dominant performance, particularly during the second inning, where Keystone scored five decisive runs.
The game began with an error that allowed Keystone to score in the top of the first inning. Keystone’s offense was ignited by Abel Jarrells’ two-run single and Lincoln Prough’s walk, which brought in another run. The scoring continued as WALL drew a fielder’s choice that allowed Austin Dupert to score. Ehan Nestor also contributed by hitting into a fielder’s choice, allowing another run to score.
At the plate, Abel Jarrells and Lincoln Prough led the team with two RBIs each. Contributions came from various players, including Mack Packer, Ehan Nestor, and Colt Hill, each collecting a hit. Drayton Packer showcased stellar defense with seven fielding chances. Keystone had 5 hits one the night and 7 RBI’s.
Brad Brungard earned the win for Keystone, delivering a strong performance on the mound. Brungard pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing only two hits and two runs while striking out six and walking three. Chase Karstetter closed the game, securing the save with one and one-third innings of hitless relief.
WALL’s efforts were spearheaded by Zander H and Liam V, who each collected a hit. Despite their efforts, the team struggled to overcome Keystone’s strong pitching and defense.
With the win Keystone will now be in the District 12 Championship game on Monday night taking on Tri-Town. Tri-Town already holds a victory over Keystone from earlier this week and Keystone would need to beat them twice in order to win the District 12 Championship. Monday’s game is schedule for 8p.m. at Volunteer Stadium in South Williamsport.
