Top seeded Lady Bucks receive a bye to District Championship
By Bees O’Brien
FARWELL- Bucktail clearly dominated District IV 1A in 2024. Their 15-4 record was good enough to earn the Lady Bucks the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. With a down season within Class 1A, Bucktail is one of only three teams to qualify for this season’s District IV 1A playoffs. This intern will send Bucktail to the district championship game on Thursday, May 23 at Elm Park in Williamsport. Game time is set for 4:30pm.
Montgomery (13-7) will be the two seed and will meet 3 seed Sullivan County (10-8) in the lone semifinal on Tuesday at Elm Park at 4:30. Montgomery downed the Lady Griffins 13-8 and 18-5 in their two Mid Penn Conference games this season. You can throw out everything once playoffs arrive and anybody can win on any given day.
That’s something Bucktail will need to realize. Their dominance over the rest of the district’s teams in 1A will be tested against either Sullivan County or Montgomery on Thursday. Overconfidence could be the Lady Bucks biggest opponent.
Bucktail rolled over Sullivan County 11-1 in Farwell and swept Montgomery 12-2 and 4-2. Their most recent game at Montgomery was a lot closer and you can bet that head coach Chris Glenn will have his Lady Raiders ready to go if they advance to the title game.
Other teams locally heading to the District IV playoffs include top seeds in 4A, Jersey Shore. The Lady Bulldogs received the top seed in that bracket and will meet the Montoursville vs. Shamokin winner.
