LHU Women’s Track & Field opens 2023-24 indoor season

LEWISBURG, PA – The Lock Haven women’s indoor track and field team opened the 2023-24 season today (Saturday, Dec. 2) at the Bucknell Bison Opener.

Headlining today’s season-opener was a number of notable individual efforts.

Leading the way was Kiersten Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion), who finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run with a 2023-24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying time of 10:39.69.

Freshman Samantha Trench (Brick, N.J./Ocean Township) impressed in her 60-meter collegiate hurdle debut. She ran 9.40 in the prelims to qualifying sixth for the finals. In the finals, she was sixth, and bettered her time with a mark of 9.39. Both her final and prelim time dipped under the PSAC qualifying standard of 9.45.

Aubrey Sechrist (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) turned in a solid early-season 800-meter – mile double. She was eighth overall in both events and ran 5:37.84 in the mile, before running 2:28.73 in the 800.

Both Hunter Barger (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) and Natalie Gentzel (Yaphank, N.Y./Bellport) performed well today. Barger was 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.10 and Gentzel was 10th in the 300-meter dash with a time of 45.02.

Reagan Irons (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) was 10th in the high jump with a mark of 4-10.25.

Julia Beck (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) threw 41-10.75 in the women’s weight throw and Clarissa Davis (York, Pa./Central York) threw 35-07.25 in the shot put.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Friday, Dec. 8 at Franklin & Marshall’s Diplomat Open.
